Kernza® Culinary Exploration at Earth Day Event in Wichita, KS
Wichita’s NPR covered the Earth Day Kernza® event held by partners at Sustain-A-Grain and WSU Tech’s NICHE culinary program, which highlighted the culinary possibilities of perennial grains. Chefs from seven different restaurants in the Wichita area cooked tasty, innovative, and Kernza-focused dishes ranging from Detroit-style pizza to Japanese milk bread, Celtic pilaf, ice cream, and more, all to be enjoyed by local guests.
Events like this help the broader Kernza community explore how to use perennial grains in both new and familiar foods and offer communities the chance to engage with foods that utilize this exciting new ingredient to create a more sustainable future for food and agriculture. Partners like Sustain-A-Grain and WSU Niche also continue to be instrumental in creating a robust consumer market for perennial grains.
