Kernza® Research at ISARA

The Land Institute collaborates with researchers around the world to advance the cultivation and consumption of Kernza® perennial grain. Kernza® researchers at ISARA-Lyon include Christophe David, Doctor in Agricultural Sciences and Olivier Duchêne, a PhD student whose research began in 2017.

They have dedicated themselves to testing the performance of Kernza® in a wide array of environmental settings. Additionally, they work to understand the potential range of adaptation and develop management practices and markets for the crop in France.

In a recent report broadcast on France 3, Olivier Duchêne explains how the grain is used in human food, while “vegetative biomass” is used in animal food.
